FAQs

Do I have to be Christian or faith-based to receive services?

Not at all. I understand people come from a diverse background in their faith and spirituality. Christian counseling is available, and clients may choose whether or not they would like faith or spirituality incorporated into their sessions.

What are the benefits of working with an out-of-network provider?

Working with an out-of-network provider offers more flexibility, privacy, and choice. Because I’m not restricted by insurance rules, I can tailor sessions based on your needs rather than a billing code or time limit. Your personal information also stays more private. I don’t have to submit diagnoses or treatment notes to insurance unless you choose to. Many clients appreciate the freedom to choose a therapist who feels like the right fit, rather than being limited to a small in-network list. And if your insurance offers out-of-network benefits, you can still receive reimbursement through a superbill, which helps offset the cost while maintaining autonomy and quality of care.

How does the reimbursement process work?

You pay for each session upfront. Afterward, I provide you with a superbill that includes all the necessary information your insurance company needs. You submit that document through your insurance portal or by mail, and if your plan includes out-of-network coverage, they may reimburse you directly. I’m happy to help guide you through the steps.

Does insurance pay for Christian Counseling?

If a Christian counselor is a licensed mental health professional such as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)—and they're in-network with your insurance, their services are generally covered, regardless of the Christian focus.

How much does it cost to have a counselor or therapist?

The reimbursement rates for a superbill can vary depending on your insurance coverage. It is best to ask your insurance provider clarifying questions to have a better idea of the reimbursement rate. I provide a Good Faith Estimate (GFE), which provides you with an estimated cost of services before you commit to therapy, for your peace of mind.

What can I expect in therapy?

The initial sessions will include learning more about your story and the issues you’d like to address and together we will establish your goals. I will create and present a uniquely tailored treatment plan to address your specific needs and reach your goals. Once we agree on your treatment plan, the work begins. I will guide you by equipping you with the tools necessary to make meaningful changes in your life.

EMDR and Brainspotting, what is it and how can it help me?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and braining spotting are evidenced-based techniques used in psychotherapy to help individuals process and heal from their traumatic memories and disturbing experiences. Many individuals experience significant improvements from their symptoms in just a few sessions, and prefer these approaches compared to talk therapy. Additionally, EMDR and Brainspotting can be used to treat a variety of symptoms such as depression, anxiety, grief, and self-esteem. EMDR and Brainspotting come with risks, so it’s important that we discuss if these are a good fit for you before proceeding with treatment.
